Postcard Series: Divya Gugnani Loves Hot Sun and Cool Water

Travel- hate it, love it? Love it when it’s vacation. Don’t love it as much when it’s for work and packed with non-stop meetings and red eye flights :-)

It’s not a vacation unless… It’s over 80 degrees and my drinks come with little umbrellas.

Planes, trains or automobiles? Planes for adult travel, trains for work, and automobiles for carting the kids and all of their stuff. Aisle seats are an absolute must!

Checked bags or carry on? I always carry on if I’m traveling without the little ones. I’ve got packing down to a science. Less is more. With the kids, I limit us to two bags between the four of us and everyone’s stuff is sprinkled throughout each bag! This way if one bag gets lost, no one is left without any clothes.

Travel beauty - bare or elaborate? Bare is better. Traveling is the perfect time to give my skin a break. Concealer is a must, our hydrating lip gel and maybe a little mascara for nightime drama.

In general my beauty routine is…. super simple during the day and only slightly more elaborate at night. I moisturize twice a day, exfoliate three times a week, mask once a week (if I get the time and remember) and swear by a few makeup essentials. I love our Flash Focus Hydrating Foundation Stick. I apply two swipes under my eyes when I’m on-the-go and a few more if I’m going out in the evening. My On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator in Coral Rose is always in my handbag. I’m always testing and trying new lip colors and formulas.

I must pack __________ when traveling? My ipad. My guilty pleasure is watching TV shows or romantic comedies on Netflix. It’s the only time I can enjoy my shows and movies without being interrupted!

Best travel tip? Travel with extra plastic bags. You never know when you are going to need them for wet bathing suits, dirty clothes, shoes, and more.

Upon arrival at my destination…. I shower. Nothing is better than a hot shower to unwind.

Favorite travel spot? Capetown, South Africa. A long flight but well worth it!

What are your 3 must see/do things in this city?

-The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve provides sweeping sea vistas, hiking trails and wildlife encounters.

-Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years. A humbling experience that makes you feel grateful for the life you lead.

-The vineyards in Franschhoek and Paarl.
