Travel- hate it, love it?
Love it. I’m currently experiencing wanderlust and dreaming of where I will escape to next.
It’s not a vacation unless…
I’m not checking my email. Like pretty much everyone on this planet, I am glued to my phone. But, when I’m away, I try to keep the phone use to a minimum!
Planes, trains or automobiles?
Automobiles! Truthfully, I can’t get to my favorite destinations by car, but I will say some of my fondest memories are from trips on the road with friends and family.
Checked bags or carry on?
In an ideal world, I’d say carry on. There’s nothing better than de-planing and being on my merry way. That said, this seldom happens, unless it’s for a short trip.
Travel beauty- bare or elaborate?
Well, compared to most people, my travel beauty is certainly elaborate, but I really do try to only bring the products that I know work for me. The easiest way to do this is to bring lots of lipstick options and scrimp on the rest. I mean, I have to do a little beauty shopping if I’m in a foreign country so that I know what I’m missing.
In general my beauty routine is….
Quick and fuss-free. I spend a lot of time on my skincare, less so on my makeup. I seldom wear more than concealer, cream blush, highlighter, lipstick and mascara on a weekday. If my hair looks polished, it’s likely that I didn’t do it myself. I rarely do my own hair, partially out of a desire to save time, but also because I prefer to look a little rumpled. I’m never not liberally perfumed (you’ll probably smell me before you even see me — that’s become my calling card.) And as a self-care ritual, I like to moisturize my body twice a day, not just because my legs always seem to be drier than a sandbox, but also because I like feeling like I gave myself some love to punctuate the beginning and end of my day.
I must pack __________ when traveling?
Comfortable walking shoes. I’m not into cabbing everywhere when I travel (or ever, really) — I like to explore by walking around from location to location. It’s more fun that way. And it compensates for all the dessert I’m likely eating.
Best travel tip?
Take some time to people watch. If you’re alone, walk around without your headphones on. It’s tempting to listen to music, but you’d be surprise how many charming and interesting things you miss while exploring.
Upon arrival at my destination….
Wash my face, take a bath and then go for a walk. Especially if I am abroad, I like to get right into the swing of things — no naps! It throws you off for days and it wastes valuable exploration time!
Favorite travel spot?
Paris forever and always.
What are your 3 must see/do things in this city?
Stop by L’As du Falafel in the Marais for the best damn falafel you will ever have in your life (I drool just thinking about it.) Go to Courrèges and oogle at the beautiful mod shift dresses. Take a walk really early in the morning just to smell the heavenly scent of pastries and bread baking. Go buy some and eat it in a park while people watching.
