Destination Home: How To Plan a Staycation In Your House

As shelter in place orders continue in many places, our professional and personal lives have collided. The lack of division between our work space and personal space can definitely be overwhelming. It feels like now more than ever, we could all use a vacation. Don’t let staying indoors discourage you - you can still have a good time at home! Keep reading for our favorite tips for planning the ultimate staycation.

TREAT YOURSELF

It can be easy to let business hours slip into personal time when working from home. Treat yourself to some much needed “me time.” Close your laptop, turn off your phone, and get to pampering! Set up a peaceful sanctuary in your home - put on your favorite tunes, light some candles, grab a glass of wine, and draw a bath. And no spa is complete without a multi-masking moment! Apply Baggage Claim Eye Masks to hydrate, de-puff, and soothe tired under eyes. Restore hydration to the skin with a layer of our newest 3-in-1 multitasker, Staycation Hydrating Mask, on the remaining areas of the face. If you’re doing this in the evening before bed, feel free to leave the Staycation Hydrating Mask on while you sleep for an overnight treatment. Otherwise, remove both masks after 10-15 minutes. Have your lips been dry and chapped from indoor air? Treat your pout with a coat of Lip Retreat Oil in the shade, “Spa Day.” Perfect, right? Don’t forget the hair! Apply Scenic Route Hair Treatment onto clean hair for intense hydration and detangling. Rinse out with warm water after 20 minutes or use as a leave-in treatment.<product>1,2,3,4</product>

HOME THEATER

Many theatrical releases have been released early on-demand in light of theater closures. Grab your favorite snacks, curl up with a cozy blanket, and watch all the newest. Make a day of it! Nothing says relaxation like a movie marathon in your favorite pajamas from the comfort of your own couch.

UNPLUG

If you prefer to unplug instead of watching movies, take the time to catch up on your reading list! Mix up a yummy cocktail or a fruity smoothie, sit by the window, and get lost in the pages of a new adventure.

BRING THE OUTDOORS TO YOU

Just because you’re inside doesn’t mean you can’t explore new places! Cities, museums, parks, and zoos around the world are now offering virtual tours. Pull out an outfit from the suitcase you had packed for spring break and take part in some virtual sightseeing. After your tour, experience the cuisine of the place you just visited by trying a new recipe or ordering takeout from a new restaurant.

Kids’ summer camps may be cancelled but they can still join the fun! If you’re one of the lucky ones with outdoor space like a backyard or balcony, set up a tent, make s’mores, and gather the family around for storytime. Enjoy some classic camp arts and crafts like making friendship bracelets, tie-dying some shirts, and creating macaroni art masterpieces. Have a pool? Inflate some floaties, get the grill going, and enjoy some fun in the sun. No outdoor space or tent? No problem! A good old fashioned pillow fort in the living room works just as well.
