Here’s Exactly How To Achieve Healthier Hair

Here’s Exactly How To Achieve Healthier Hair

New year, better hair! If your 2020 resolution includes shiny, healthy tresses, we’re here to help hack your way to better hair days. Get ready to make every day a great hair day with some of our favorite tips and tricks for healthier hair.

Good Hair Habits

Not only is using the right products important for your hair, it is also important to practice good hair habits. Sometimes, it may seem that washing and conditioning is enough, but here are some habit hacks to achieve even healthier hair:

Wash Your Hair Less

There’s nothing like feeling squeaky clean, but washing your hair too frequently can strip your hair of its natural oils. When your hair is constantly being stripped like this, you actually end up producing more oil to compensate (and no one wants a greasy head of hair!), or are left with a dry, flaky scalp.

It is important to wash your hair less often so that you can prevent a dry scalp. Help your scalp remain healthy and your hair soft and shiny by practicing this hair habit!

If you’re worried about greasy hair or having hair with no volume from not washing your hair daily, we recommend using a hair refresher (hair refreshers are dry shampoo 2.0). Extra Mileage Hair Refresher, a revolutionary, non-aerosol hair refresher, instantly absorbs excess oil, delivers natural-looking texture, and adds volume to revive your blowout.<product>1</product>

The silica powder in this hair refresher absorbs oils and cleanses your hair, while hair-loving ingredients like panthenol improve hair’s elasticity.

Change How You Brush Your Hair

If you are prone to getting knotted and tangled hair, remember to brush your hair from the bottom up! Use short strokes, starting at the end, and gradually work upwards (while still brushing downwards) with longer strokes. Brushing your hair from top to bottom causes more knots and creates damage and breakage.

A great way to prevent hair from getting tangled and to repair knotted hair is to use a restorative hair treatment that will detangle and nourish your strands, like Scenic Route Hair Treatment.

Scenic Route is a restorative, 3-in-1 hair treatment that can be used as a daily conditioner, intensely hydrating hair mask and detangling leave-in treatment. Achieve your hair by giving it the extra hydration it deserves. You can use it on wet or dry hair and maximize your time in and out of the shower!<product>2</product>

Skip The Tight Ponytail and Bun

For our Wander Beauties who love to keep their hair up and out of their way to tackle the day, it’s important to remember to not leave your hair in a tight ponytail/bun all day, every day! If you're constantly pulling your hair back daily, the tension can cause your strands to break or even pull out your hair at the root. We recommend tying your hair in a loose braid if you want to keep hair out of your face. Clipping your hair back with hair clips or barrettes is an effective and stylish way to pull your hair out of your face, too.

Don’t Sleep with Wet Hair

One of the worst things you can do to your hair is to sleep on it while it’s still wet. When your hair is wet, it is in its most fragile state. The friction from your pillowcase can damage your hair cuticle. This can lead to excess frizz and even breakage - so making sure not to sleep on wet hair is key. Give your hair time to let it dry naturally before heading to bed each night.

Speaking of frizz… for our Wander Beauties who struggle with dry and frizzy strands, it is also important to use a shampoo that won’t strip your hair of its natural oils. All Inclusive Shampoo and Body Wash is a 2-in-1 shampoo and body wash that is sulfate-free and transforms from a gel to foam for a luxurious lather. It contains non-greasy oils to hydrate hair while cleansing (and as a result, it won’t strip hair of natural oils)! It is also a do-it-all cleanser that will reinvigorate dull hair and skin. Do more with less while you shower!<product>3</product>

Switch to Silk Pillowcases

Wake up on the right side of the bed by making the switch from cotton pillowcases to silk pillowcases. Silk pillowcases are much more gentle on your hair strands and will help you maintain a fresh blowout for longer. Cotton pillowcases absorb the moisture from your hair and cause hair to appear dull and lackluster. This results in hair issues such as frizz, breakage, and scalp irritation.
