Here's Exactly How To Use Every Kind of Face Mask

Here's Exactly How To Use Every Kind of Face Mask

Just as the seasons change, so does your skin. We are constantly looking for a quick fix to our skin problems and what better way to target those issues than with a relaxing face mask! Masks are a great alternative to expensive, time-consuming facials and can be done right in the comfort of your own home. So which mask is best for you?

What are the different types of face masks?

There are so many masks in the market. Here are some of the masks you may see at your local beauty store of choice:

  • Sheet masks
  • Peel off masks
  • Eye masks
  • Hydrating masks
  • Chemical facial peel masks

Why should I use a face mask?

Face masks help to target your individual beauty and skin concerns and they are the perfect addition to your skincare routine. Not only are face masks relaxing, they can be the solution to improving your skin conditions such as any dullness, oiliness, or even dryness. Good face masks are packed with skin-loving ingredients and you deserve the best!

How do I use a face mask?

To maximize the benefits of your face mask, make sure you:

Follow the instructions for your specific mask, which can usually be found on the carton or container that the mask comes in. If the instructions state to cleanse your face prior to using it, make sure you do so! Cleansing removes any dirt or grime you collected on your face throughout the day.

Wash your hands! Not only is it important to clean your face, it’s important to have clean hands so that you don’t transfer any dirt from your hands to your face. That will defeat the purpose of cleaning your face.

Don’t leave your face mask on for too long. We get it - putting on a face mask can feel like a special occasion. Unfortunately, no matter how relaxing it is, leaving a face mask on for a long time won’t guarantee better results. When it comes to how long to leave a face mask on, refer to the directions on the packaging. It varies from face to mask to face mask and if you think you might forget, set a timer!

One mask does not fit all. Don’t feel the need to use just one face mask for your whole face! Different parts of your skin have different concerns so don’t limit yourself. Multi-masking is a great way to target multiple concerns at once. Tweak your masks as you see fit to achieve your best skin ever!

Everything you need to know about every type of mask

Sheet Masks

Sheet masks are a personal favorite! They are a staple in many people’s beauty routines and they are designed for various skin types. They can be applied easily to the face and work to lock in the nourishing ingredients by acting as a barrier on your face. Sheet masks also come in many designs so if you’re looking to spice things up, try something fun like a panda sheet mask!

Peel Off Masks

We love a good peel off mask and one of our favorites is the Lift Off Purifying and Brightening Peel Off Mask. It has acai, goji berry, blueberry, lychee, mangosteen and green tea extract to hydrate and reveal a smoother, clearer and brighter complexion. Peel off masks are great because you can use them in multiple ways. Not only can you apply it all over your face, you can also use it while multimasking to spot treat your nose or t-zone area.<product>1</product>

Eye Masks

Model using Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Eye Mask

Fake awake with a good eye mask! Eye masks are relaxing and help with depuffing and reducing the appearance of dark under-eyes. Our favorite are the Baggage Claim Eye Masks. Use them morning or night when you feel like your eyes need some extra care. They help to visibly brighten, hydrate, and help reduce the appearance of dark under-eyes while providing skin loving ingredients to your skin.<product>2</product>

Hydrating Masks

Who doesn’t love hydrated skin? Hydrating masks lock in moisture to achieve soft, supple and nourished skin. They can also be used as an overnight mask for extended hydration. Our Staycation Hydrating Mask is the solution to refreshing tired skin. It is a 3-in-1 mask packed with antioxidants to protect and heal your skin, revealing a more bouncy complexion.<product>3</product>

Chemical Facial Peel Masks

This type of mask is slightly different from the rest. Chemical facial peel masks are exfoliating masks that work to resurface the skin. They may include AHA/BHA, which help to smooth skin texture and unclog pores. Fast Lane Instant Facial is one of our favorite exfoliating masks. It has a high impact combination of 10% Alpha Hydroxyl Acid and 2% Beta Hydroxyl Acid which reveals a brighter and more youthful complexion instantly.<product>4</product>

Pro Tip: If you are using a face mask for the first time, be sure to conduct a patch test on the inner arm or neck prior to use. If your skin turns red, do not continue.
