Cannes Travel Diary
This year I was so excited to attend the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival! Situated on the picturesque French Riviera, it’s one of the most extravagant events in film and fashion. I was invited by Chopard, one of the event sponsors, to attend the premiere of Carol, starring Kate Blanchet. This is the view from the Chopard suite on the Croisette where I picked out jewelry to wear with my gown for the red carpet! I was like a kid in a candy store; I've never seen so many gorgeous jewels in one place.
I was joined by my PR reps Fred Howard and Ryan Brown. It doesn’t matter if it’s game night at my apartment or a star-studded event like this, there’s never a dull moment with these two! On our down time we enjoyed sitting on the beach sipping rose, as one should do in France!
I never wander without my On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator. For me, it's a beauty essential. After a long flight, I rely on our Nude Glow Illuminator to wake up my tired eyes, just a little on the brow and cheekbones will do the trick! I wore the Coral Rose Blush during the day, which looked great on my tanned skin. I love the convenience of traveling with multitasking products like this because it makes for a lighter, more streamlined beauty bag. I can't wait to share many more innovative beauty essentials from Wander Beauty!
Illuminator is every makeup artist’s secret weapon! Before walking the red carpet, I applied a little extra to accentuate my cheekbones, on my cupid’s bow for a fuller pout, and down the center of my nose for definition. I also love adding sheen to my body and our Illuminator is beautiful on your decollete and shoulders, especially when wearing strapless dresses like this one.
I love to have fun with beauty on the red carpet by taking trends from the runway and translating them into wearable looks. This season, blue eyeshadow was trending on many of the catwalks. My makeup artist, and great friend, Meredith Baraf gave me a gorgeous gray smoky eye with a pop of aqua shadow to match my gorgeous Chopard earrings. You can see how our illuminator catches the light so beautifully, I spent months getting the formula and color just right! It doesn’t look chalky or shimmery, it looks like healthy glowing skin.
The Cannes red carpet is unlike any other! First of all, it's at least 20 feet wide and seemed to go on forever with hundreds of photographers on both sides of you snapping away. There’s a grand staircase at the very end that leads you into the theatre. Walking up stairs in this gown seemed almost impossible. The whole experience was a little daunting to say the least! After a few seconds I relaxed into it and had fun playing to the cameras. I wore a daring sheer Ulyana Sergeenko dress, she's a Russian Couture designer with very unique gowns that were quite popular on the red carpet this year. I thought I might as well go big or go home! Oh, and I made it up the stairs without a hitch, phew!
